This is the hard part

Tonight, some Americans feel like winners, and others like losers. Let's unite in the aftermath of triumph and defeat, determined to forge a brighter future together. We have the power to create a legacy worth inheriting, but we must rise above the desire for revenge and the lure of power. The true test of character lies in how we respond to victory and defeat. Will we choose grace and forgiveness or let our egos consume us? The choice is ours, and this moment will define who we truly are. We must resist cruelty, meanness, and divisiveness. We must protect the vulnerable.

At this moment, the ancient words of Genesis 4:7 haunt us and counsel us:

“ If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; its desire is for you, but you must master it.”
